"Ammon said unto him: I am a man; and man in the beginning was created after the image of God, and I am called by his Holy Spirit to teach these things unto this people, that they may be brought to a knowledge of that which is just and true; And a portion of that Spirit dwelleth in me, which giveth me knowledge and also power according to my faith and desires which are in God."

E-mail #36 of 2011 9/5/2011 Week 72

Hola familia!!!
Well, this week there is pretty much some fantastic news that I would like to present to y'all.......... C D has been committed for baptism on sept 15th!!!!!!! Yay!!! We are super excited for him. He is doing really great. I can't remember if I told you this before but his mom isn't completely anti but she isn't all for it either. I guess after we committed C. he and his dad told her and I guess her reaction was pretty funny. She asked C. why he wants to be baptized and I guess he said "to receive the Holy Ghost." J., C.'s dad, said she was basically dumbfounded. She couldn't say anything haha. But, she is ok with him being baptized and J. was telling us that she should be at the baptism! So, we are super excited for him Ever since J. has been coming back to church he has been way into spreading the word. He gives out quite a few Books of Mormon. I guess he ran out and the only one that was left was C's copy. So, he gave it to someone and C. wasn't very happy about that. So, we grabbed one from our apartment and put a protective wrap thing on it and gave it to him. He seemed pretty happy about it. I'll let y'all know more about what's going on with him next week.
On sunday morning before church the Chatsworth sisters had a baptism. We had to get there at like 630 to get things set up. The baptism was at 8. His name is E. He's the Brother of a member. The thing is that he's spanish. He speaks pretty well in english. But, there were a lot of gospel related things and such that he only understood in spanish. So, we and the east elders went over there at times to help out. So, elder T. and I took a picture with him in his baptismal clothes. Elder R. performed the baptism. It was pretty sweet!
We did some area book finding and we found this young man, J S. He's 13. His teaching record makes him sound pretty legit. His parents didn't seem terribly interested and so we asked them if we had their permission to teach him. They said it's up to them and they aren't going to force him to do anything. So, he invited us in. I was expecting an awesome lesson. It was ok but not quite what I was hoping for haha. He seems like he could be pretty interested. But, his girlfriend was there and she seemed kinda annoyed that we were there haha. It seemed like he wasn't being completely sincere because she was there. So, hopefully it's just him next time and things will go smoother haha.
Oh, so we checked out the baptismal font to see how much it needs to be cleaned before C's baptism. When we looked in there were several insects crawling around in there. Also, there was a salamander lizard thing down there! So, I got in and caught the lizard. We put it in a bottle, got pictures of it and released it. We talked with the bishop about cleaning the font as a service project and he seemed to like the idea haha.
So, there is a tropical storm or something blowing through. It has been passing by for the last couple of days. Yesterday was the worst. It's our bike week and so we headed out to our appointment with our raincoats on. But, we still got completely soaked haha. Our appointment wasn't there either so we rescheduled. We started tracting in the rain and then J. called us up. We went back to the apartment and J. picked us up and rescued us from the rain.
So, President Irion said he can extend my mission up to four weeks without outside approval. He said we will talk more about it later. I'm hoping to get at least a transfer but we will see
Well, that is pretty much everything for this week. Thank y'all for your prayers and for everything you do. It's really helped me to make it to this point and I can't thank y'all enough. I know the Church is true. I'm so excited for the opportunity to watch General conference in just a few weeks! I can't wait and I hope we get many investigators there. It will be great. Well I love y'all and hope y'all have a great week!
Love,
Elder Kreyling
