Sweet Home Alabama I'm back!

Hola Familia!

Well, to start off this week’s email I just want to say, Sweet Home Alabama... I'm back! Yes, I am back in Fort Payne, AL! Can you believe it?! I'm so super excited. Wow! I couldn't believe it when I found out, but I'm so glad that this has happened. Yesterday in church I saw several familiar faces. One of which was V.! She couldn't seem to believe that I am back but she seemed excited like I amit’s such a blessing to be able to see her and everyone else here again. I'm so excited for this transfer!

Ok, so my first weeks as a District Leader and Trainer have gone well. I have a really good trainee named Elder P. He's in his second training transfer, so I'm finishing off his training. He's a great Elder. His first trainer was Elder R. He was called to be a zone leader so I came here to finish training and be the district leader here. In his email to me President I. said he thought this would be a good chance for me to stretch my wings a bit.

The work here is going pretty well right now. They had three baptisms this last transfer. One of them was B. L. Do you remember her from my stay here last year? We taught her a couple of times, but she had some things to work out. Well, she was just recently baptized. How cool, right?!

We are teaching a guy named B. F. I met him the last time I was here, but I'm not sure if I mentioned him. He is a cool guy. He came to church two Sundays ago and seemed to like it. We are planning on committing him for baptism soon. We are also going to get him to general conference. I’m super excited for that also

Oh, I forgot to mention that I saw P. also. That was exciting too!

We have tried seeing A. a couple of times, but he hasn't been home when we've gone by. Remember him? He should have been baptized by now. We are planning on seeing him and several other former investigators that we were working with while I was here before.

Oh this week as a new district leader and trainer I've had some good growing opportunities. We went to a district leader training in the Chattanooga stake center. We learned several things to help us do our best as district leaders. In addition to that, I will be going back up to Farragut this Thursday for a mission wide leadership training!

This week's district meeting went well. It was on Revelation through church attendance. I was excited about the topic and I related it to General Conference and how our investigators can hear the Prophet's voice as well as the voices of the twelve and other leaders of the church. After district meeting the other Elders had a baptismal candidate who needed to be interviewed by me. You know how many of the baptismal interview questions can be answered with a "yes" or "no"? On some of those she didn't give a simple answer like that. So, the interview went a bit longer than anticipated ha-ha. I just had to call President Irion to verify something with him and then I signed the baptismal record. She was baptized and confirmed this weekend. Apparently, that was the first baptism in that area for about a year! So, those Elders have done a really great job.

Well, that has been my week. We don't have any baptismal dates right now, but we are planning on getting some soon. I'm excited for this transfer and for this opportunity that I've been given. I know the Church and Gospel are true. Take care and I love y'all. Tell everyone that I say hi and I love them!

P.S. Also, everything went well with C's baptism! He is Elder T's first baptism! I have some pictures, but I don't have the camera on me right now... I'll send them in next week’s email. C. should have been confirmed yesterday. I'll let y'all know when I get a card from president Irion. Also, C's mother was there, so that was really good. J. also came even though he was very tired from his trip. He should be baptized soon. That's everything. Let me know if you want a few more details on something. Love y'all!!!

Love,

Elder Kreyling

E-mail #38 of 2011 9/19/2011 Week 74

Hola familia!!!
Well, we have taught C. everything that he needs to know. Both Elder R. and Bishop W. said that he's ready for baptism! So, yesterday we picked out some baptismal clothes for him and we went over how the baptism will be performed. His baptism will be tomorrow at 6:30. We have been told that his mother will be at his baptism also! We are excited for the D. and we believe C's baptism will help their family out.
J. will be back from vacation tomorrow and we hope to get him to C's baptism. I think he will be baptized in the near future.
Well, today I have some more news for y'all! I got a message from the assistants to call in on a leadership conference call on Saturday morning. I called in and found out that I'm being made a Distict Leader and that I'm leaving Dalton! I was kinda sad about leaving Dalton but I'm hoping that there will be a chance for me to come back at the end of the mission. So, I found out this info on Saturday. Then, yesterday after church President Irion called me and told me some more news. It was kind of an oh by the way thing. He told me that I'm going to be training in addition to being a district leader! Pretty cool right?! I'm excited. I don't think that I'll be whitewashing a Spanish area. There was a trio in Pigeon Forge Tennessee this transfer. One of the elders there is leaving and I think I will be going there. If that's right it will be my first trio! So, because I'm training I need to be at the Farragut church building at 8 in the morning for a trainers meeting. That means I'll be leaving a little before six to get there on time. But, I'm excited for this. We had interviews with President Irion this past Thursday and he kinda hinted that I would be called into leadership. I'm excited to be able to serve other missionaries and their investigators!
Well, that's all for this week. I hope y'all enjoy the pictures that are attatched! Have a great week and I'll talk to y'all later. Tell everyone I love them! Love y'all!
Love,
Elder Kreyling

E-mail #37 of 2011 9/12/2011 Week 73

Hola familia!
Hey how are y'all doing? This week we got a bit wet on our bikes haha. It was pretty fun though. Then, later on in the week Elder T's pedal fell off so we had to borrow one from the other Elders haha.
Well, this week I have some news. C. is still getting baptized but his date has been moved to the 20th. A week from tomorrow. That is the day before transfers so I hope I am staying so I can see him be confirmed! But, that is in the Lord's hands. He is still doing great with everything. We saw his mother with Bishop W. We talked to her about baptizing C. and she's not sure that he's ready. So, Bishop offered to have a little interview with C. and he will let her know if he feels that he's ready. But, Elder T and I both feel that he is more than ready.
We saw J. L. S. He seemed more open without his girlfriend there haha. His family was there also. He has younger sisters and his two parents. They all listened but it seems that J. is the most interested. The parents seem supportive though. We got the dad to say the closing prayer which was pretty good.
We taught S. R. a few times this week and he is still teaming up with us and feeding us. He's legit haha.
We saw R. He is like the main manager at C's. He told us to go on a sat and he'll hook us up!
Well, those are the main highlights of the week. Sorry, I'm running out of time! I love y'all and hope y'all have an amazing week!!!
Love,
Elder Kreyling

E-mail #36 of 2011 9/5/2011 Week 72

Hola familia!!!
Well, this week there is pretty much some fantastic news that I would like to present to y'all.......... C D has been committed for baptism on sept 15th!!!!!!! Yay!!! We are super excited for him. He is doing really great. I can't remember if I told you this before but his mom isn't completely anti but she isn't all for it either. I guess after we committed C. he and his dad told her and I guess her reaction was pretty funny. She asked C. why he wants to be baptized and I guess he said "to receive the Holy Ghost." J., C.'s dad, said she was basically dumbfounded. She couldn't say anything haha. But, she is ok with him being baptized and J. was telling us that she should be at the baptism! So, we are super excited for him Ever since J. has been coming back to church he has been way into spreading the word. He gives out quite a few Books of Mormon. I guess he ran out and the only one that was left was C's copy. So, he gave it to someone and C. wasn't very happy about that. So, we grabbed one from our apartment and put a protective wrap thing on it and gave it to him. He seemed pretty happy about it. I'll let y'all know more about what's going on with him next week.
On sunday morning before church the Chatsworth sisters had a baptism. We had to get there at like 630 to get things set up. The baptism was at 8. His name is E. He's the Brother of a member. The thing is that he's spanish. He speaks pretty well in english. But, there were a lot of gospel related things and such that he only understood in spanish. So, we and the east elders went over there at times to help out. So, elder T. and I took a picture with him in his baptismal clothes. Elder R. performed the baptism. It was pretty sweet!
We did some area book finding and we found this young man, J S. He's 13. His teaching record makes him sound pretty legit. His parents didn't seem terribly interested and so we asked them if we had their permission to teach him. They said it's up to them and they aren't going to force him to do anything. So, he invited us in. I was expecting an awesome lesson. It was ok but not quite what I was hoping for haha. He seems like he could be pretty interested. But, his girlfriend was there and she seemed kinda annoyed that we were there haha. It seemed like he wasn't being completely sincere because she was there. So, hopefully it's just him next time and things will go smoother haha.
Oh, so we checked out the baptismal font to see how much it needs to be cleaned before C's baptism. When we looked in there were several insects crawling around in there. Also, there was a salamander lizard thing down there! So, I got in and caught the lizard. We put it in a bottle, got pictures of it and released it. We talked with the bishop about cleaning the font as a service project and he seemed to like the idea haha.
So, there is a tropical storm or something blowing through. It has been passing by for the last couple of days. Yesterday was the worst. It's our bike week and so we headed out to our appointment with our raincoats on. But, we still got completely soaked haha. Our appointment wasn't there either so we rescheduled. We started tracting in the rain and then J. called us up. We went back to the apartment and J. picked us up and rescued us from the rain.
So, President Irion said he can extend my mission up to four weeks without outside approval. He said we will talk more about it later. I'm hoping to get at least a transfer but we will see
Well, that is pretty much everything for this week. Thank y'all for your prayers and for everything you do. It's really helped me to make it to this point and I can't thank y'all enough. I know the Church is true. I'm so excited for the opportunity to watch General conference in just a few weeks! I can't wait and I hope we get many investigators there. It will be great. Well I love y'all and hope y'all have a great week!
Love,
Elder Kreyling
