"Ammon said unto him: I am a man; and man in the beginning was created after the image of God, and I am called by his Holy Spirit to teach these things unto this people, that they may be brought to a knowledge of that which is just and true; And a portion of that Spirit dwelleth in me, which giveth me knowledge and also power according to my faith and desires which are in God."

E-mail From Elder Kreyling 4/29/2010

Dear Dad,
Yeah I can't wait to get out there (Tennessee). I sent letters to you, mom and Sam today. It's snowing today... Weird. Haha it's snowed and rained a few times so far. We hosted new missionaries yesterday... In the snow. On Tuesday we had a devotional. Elder L. Tom Perry and his wife spoke in it! It was awesome to have an apostle speak to us and tell us we have the authority and power to do this work. Oh, I wrote you about the Dixie game in my letter. Well I was just barely able to get to a computer but my laundry is almost done. Time to fold! Oh! Please remind family and friends to write!
I love you!
Barry

Mom,
I got some more time after I finished my laundry to email ya. I was just kidding about missing my messes. Haha but yeah, my companion talked to my DL and then talked to me. He asked me what I thought he could do to be a better companion. So I told him what I thought, I was honest but not mean. So, hopefully things improve there. But, I have less than a week already, it's going by so fast! I sent a letter to you and dad in the same envelope. L. Tom Perry spoke to us at a devotional on Tuesday, it was so awesome! But yeah, things are going well here and I can't wait to get to Tennessee! I'll email again next P day.
Love,
Barry

Letter from Barry 4/22/2010

Sam!
Yay! It is so good to here from you! Thanks for the letter! :) But yeah the MTC is awesome!... So far haha... I miss you too. But, time will fly and it'll be like nothing happened and I'll be back again. I mean it has already been more than a week that I've been here! Well Haha, I probably will talk like a cowboy when I get back... Some Elders don't really like the food here but I think its good...
Mom,
How is it not having a son around to mess up the house a little bit? Or is dad making up for me in that regard? Haha :) Don't lie now, I bet you miss the mess, even if it's only a tiny bit! Haha :) things are still going great here. Everything is awesome... Well I'll write again next week. I love you! :) - Barry (Elder Kreyling)

P.S. I read that you talked to Michelle and she will write :) I've only heard from family so far and that's awesome! But it would really help to hear from friends too so please tell them I'd love to hear from them.

Barry's First E-mail

Today, Thursday is Barry's p-day and we received an e-mail from him. Below is an excerpt from that e-mail.

"Hey!!! So, I love the MTC!!! I love everything about it; the teachers, all of the learning we do, everything. It is so sweet how much is being learned through the spirit. Everyday we learn something new and become better missionaries. Today, thursday, is my P day at the MTC. This morning we went to the Provo Temple. We arrived there at about 7:30 and did ten names for initiatory work. I hope next week we will go through a session next week... But yeah, things are going great here! I'm having a blast while working and learning a lot! I think that's a pretty awesome combo:) " Barry Kreyling

The First Letter From Barry Arrives

Barry's first letter home arrived today but Morena works until 7:00 and then Paul is coaching soccer until 9:00. Now we know how it was for Barry when he had to wait all day to open his call. Here are some excerpts from Barry's letter...

"I wasn't really sure what to expect at the MTC. I had heard from some people that it feels like a prison here... But, I LOVE it here! It is so awesome! It is incredible how much learning we've done by learning with the spirit.

... I came here with faith that He ( The Lord) would take care of me so I can focus on what I need to. He has given me strength to make it through & continues to do so. It has increased my faith in him & only strengthens my testimony that this is where I need to be and & what I need to do.

And tell everyone else to please, please, please write if they haven't already! I love you!" -Barry (Elder Kreyling)"

Elder Kreyling Enters MTC

Elder Barry Kreyling entered the MTC at 1:00pm. It wasn't an easy day for Mom and Dad but it ended well as they said goodbye to their son. The day started with his dad waking him at 6:00am and having companion prayer. Then getting ready for the day. Eating his breakfast of papusas and mango and hot chocolate. When leaving Jan's house I (dad) looked in the rear view mirror and saw Barry's eyes welling with tears which caused my eyes to well with tears. During the trip up Barry finished that you notes to people that helped him and set some goals for Mom and Dad. Stopped in Nephi for a restroom break. The got some whopper Jrs. in Provo because we weren't sure with a one o'clock check in time if he would eat before dinner. We ate under a tree just east of the MTC and enjoyed some final time together. We walked down to the MTC entrance to take pictures and all of a sudden someone is shouting Barry's name. It was Maggie Nikolaus. That put a smile on Barry's face. We took the pictures and then Maggie took the one with all of us in. It was now time to head back to the car and drive down to drop Barry off. As we were crossing the street Barry needed a restroom. We only had a half hour until we needed to drop him off. This was not enough time to drive somewhere so I asked a MTC worker where a restroom was. I thought he would point to one at the park across the street but instead he pointed toward the MTC and told us to go through some side doors. We started to walk in that direction but after about 10 yards we were stopped by another worker. "Where are you going?" she asked so I explained to her the situation and she let us pass. We crossed the driveway and were on the sidewalk by the MTC when another worker who was grumpier than the others stopped us. We explained again the situation and he told us we couldn't go through those doors but would have to go around through the front doors. While we were talking with him we hear someone yelling Barry's name. It turned out to be Mckay Wright Barry's close friend. Barry had hoped to see him there where Mckay had been for a month but thought it unlikely. Mckay ran over and they hugged both beaming. They visited for a minute or two while the MTC worker was mumbling under his "that elder shouldn't be doing that. The rest of the drop off went well. The elders that were there to escort him in were going to Russia and were nice. They told Barry he was going to have a blast. After talking with them and Barry for about 6 minutes We gave Barry some hugs and they walked away with Barry smiling. He never looked back. We do not think it was chance that Barry saw Mckay. We feel blessed indeed.

Last stuff

Last snuggle with Regan and Kaylee the morning Elder Kreyling left.

Last breakfast. Mom made Pupusas for Elder Kreyling for his last dinner the night before and for his last breakfast.

Last Janice made peach cobbler. Also for breakfast as well as dessert the night before. And of course Elder Kreyling's famouse cinnamon hot cocoa to go with it all.
