"Ammon said unto him: I am a man; and man in the beginning was created after the image of God, and I am called by his Holy Spirit to teach these things unto this people, that they may be brought to a knowledge of that which is just and true; And a portion of that Spirit dwelleth in me, which giveth me knowledge and also power according to my faith and desires which are in God."

E-mail 9/27/2010 Week 24

Hola Familia,
Yes, both Elder Follett and I went to Dalton for the Spanish Conference. We were given some good advice on how to better learn spanish. Yes, we role played in Spanish with several members for a couple of hours. The members also fed us some really good food. It was awesome! Oh, before the conference I was speaking with my district leader, Elder Black, and he said he spoke with President and that President said he is changing my call to Spanish speaking! So, I guess I'm officially a Spanish Missionary now haha! I think I'm doing alright with my Spanish but there is still much I need to learn. I'm working on my Subjunctives right now. My Zone leader is a Spanish Elder and he is probably the best at the language in the Mission right now, other than natives. But, he had a couple of suggestions to learning spanish more effectively. He had his parents send him some CD's and other things so I'm gonna see exactly what it is that he got so I can ask ya'll for them
That is so cool that China will soon be open for the work! When/where did you hear that? Oh, I've been buying almond milk regularly and then trying the ones that you've sent. Hazelnut is my favorite out of the ones you've sent.
The girls lost?! Aw man. What are they at in region? Do they need me to pray for them? Haha. Tell them I love them and they can do it!
I did not receive a letter from Jake. It should be here soon though. That would be awesome to hear from him. Could ya give me Ben's address so I can send him a letter. Goodness, his mission went fast. Mine is going fast it just isn't right! Sigh. Almost six months now. It's just too fast.
Ok, I'll write a letter to Abuela soon.
It sounds like things are still going well back home. General Conference is almost here so that will be good for all of us. I'm excited! Well, I must be going now.
Love,
Elder Barry Kreyling

E-mail 9/20/2010 Week 23

Hola Familia!
Hey so things have been going pretty well this past week. I was going to send the black bag but I got a call on wednesday from the assistants. They told me I was getting E.T.'d (Emergency Transferred) out of Loudon to Jamestown! We called President Griffin and he said it's true. He said he would continue pondering it to see if that was what should be done. The assistants originally told me that they would be picking me up the following morning. Wednesday evening they called again and told me they would get me the following afternoon or maybe even friday. They called thursday morning and told me that I was no longer being transferred. So, I am staying in Loudon. Woo hoo! I told elder Follett that I want to baptized here and then leave haha Six months is a long time. Anyways, on Wed. I called a few of my favorite members to let them know I would be leaving. But, when I found out I was staying I didn't let them know. Man, they where surprised to see me at church yesterday haha! Good times
We have been unable to contact Angel, our hispanic investigator, for a few days. She said her husband hurt his back at work and they would be in the hospital for a few days. We haven't been able to talk with her since then. She has said she believes the Book of Mormon is true. We just need to get her fellowshipped and in church and she will be baptized!
Mom, it sounds like your doing a great job! The Lord needs you to continue what you've started. Just continue befriending them and following the promptings of the spirit and the Lord will take care of the rest.
Dad, it's good to hear that all is well. The girls seem to be doing pretty well. As always, give my love to them. Oh, yes I got the package and thank you. So are ya liking the college level of teaching then? Do you think you will keep doing it?
Sam, I'm sorry sis! I have been slacking in the writing dept. these last two transfers. These last two companions don't really write much so we haven't planned for it on p days. I will have to start writing up a letter for ya during the nights throughout the week. K?
Alrighty, that's all for this week. I hope yins (another form of ya'll... I think haha) have an amazing week! I love ya'll!
Love,

E-mail 9/13/2010 Week 22

Hola Familia!
This week has been pretty good. My new companion is Elder Follett. He is cool and yes he is another spanish speaking elder. So I am doing spanish work for at least another transfer! The spanish is still coming to me. I feel pretty comfortable but I am still need to learn quite a bit more to be really effective. No, I have not been taking pictures very much lately. I am a little behind on my journal writing but I have been doing better with that. Ever since I've been in the spanish work we haven't tracted nearly as much as Elder Badal and I did. I thought we weren't working quite as hard as we should because I was used to tracting a lot. But, we have an extra hour for language study each day and hispanics are a lot more willing to listen to us. So, we've tracted less yet we have more people to see. It's interesting how that works out.
Speaking of spanish work we have one hispanic lady who we are really excited about. Her name is Angel. Elder Summerhays and I found her and left her with a Book of Mormon. We committed her to read 3rd Nephi 11. When we went back we asked her if she read. She said yes but Elder Summerhays didn't believe her because many people don't read. But, she then started explaining the chapter to us! But that's not all, she also had a page full of notes! Her notes included "la doctrina"! After transfers Elder Follett and I went to see her and she had started from 1st Nephi 1. She had notes from that too! She said she believes it's true. We left her with 2nd Nephi 31 and we committed her to pray to know after she reads. When we go back and she has a testimony we are going to committ her for baptism. Then, we will need to get her a fellowshipper and get her to church. We have great faith that she will be baptized.
It's good to hear that all is well back home. I hope ya'll have an awesome week! Tell everyone ( the fam, soccer girls, everyone!) that I love them. I love ya'll.
Love,
Elder Barry Kreyling

Hola Familia!!!
Yes, things are going well. Just one minor upset is that Israel, our hispanic investigator with a date, had to go back to Mexico. He didn't have a job or money so he had to go back. I was a bit sad. But, we got his info. to give to the Elders down there. He will be baptized... just not here haha.
Yes, the spanish studies are going well. I have learned quite a bit and can preach the Gospel in spanish. But, I can only do so slowly right now. It's been a journey picking up spanish again but it's been a blessing too. Oh yeah, we got "the call" on saturday and I'm staying in Loudon for another transfer while Elder Summerhays is leaving. I think I will be getting another spanish companion though. We saw President Griffin at the Mission office and he smiled and told me that they wouldn't keep me in Loudon forever. We kinda laughed about it haha. I just want to baptize here and then I don't care what they decide to do with me. I just want one baptism haha.
Yay! Thanks for sending that stuff. I will probably get it at transfer meeting. If I can get over to the Post office this week I will send mom's black bag along with a letter that I've been writing over the course of a week or so. Elder Summerhays hasn't wanted to plan time to write letters so I've been writing some while we are at the apartment for the night. Hopefully my new companion will want to take some time to write letters so I can send some more.
Oh, I spoke with an Elder Maxwell yesterday. He is the one who knows Shane and the O'dells. He said the O'dell's house used to be theirs. He is from St. George as well!
I've played soccer on one p day. I have also played ultimate frisbee a few times. Other than riding the bike the only exercise I usually get is from doing sit ups and push ups. We have also worked out at Bro. Howard's (Branch Mission leader) on a few P days including yesterday. I benched 160! Haha.
That's a nice pic of Losee. She flattened sadie? Haha awesome. Yeah, Elder Summerhays and I look about the same as that pic I would imagine. I'll get a pic of the two of us before transfers.
Sam! I hope things go well with the test! I shall pray for you I'll start a letter for ya. I miss and love ya too!
Mom! It's good to hear that you are helping the missionary effort. 33 out of the Mission's 35 baptisms this last month were from member referrals or part member families. I think a lot of members forget that every member is a missionary. That's a new goal I have for you, Dad, and Sam. Just befriend people and eventually you will be able to introduce them to the church and you can invite them to be taught by the missionaries
Haha, I'm glad to hear that people are liking the pics. I have not tried myself, but Elder Summerhays has not been able to send pics in emails. So, I will try but I may just have to continue sending them with a letter every once in a while.
Well, I need to be going now my time is almost up. But, know that I love you all greatly. The Church is true!
Love,
Elder Kreyling
